NoiseDesk

Brüel and Kjaer, supplier of integrated solutions for the measurement and analysis of sound and vibration, is pleased to announce that its NoiseDesk solution for airport noise monitoring has been selected by Winnipeg Airports Authority for the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

NoiseDesk helps airports track and monitor aircraft operations and any associated noise disturbances. The airport will also deploy a portable noise monitoring terminal (NMT) in the centre of the airfield to measure noise levels. The portable NMT will assist the airport with accurate measurement of airfield noise levels and correlation to aircraft operations.

Michael O’Gorman, vice president operations and customer experience at Winnipeg Airports Authority said: "We need to be able to accurately monitor and quickly respond to exceptions to noise abatement procedures.

"The new software will enhance our existing noise management program, making it easier for us to identify situations that need our attention."

The technology solution makes use of radar surveillance data provided by NAV CANADA to correlate flight tracking information with noise abatement procedures, as well as noise events detected with the noise monitoring terminal.

Victoria Garmy, business development manager for the Americas at Brüel and Kjaer said: "This latest decision to deploy NoiseDesk takes the Airport’s ability to respond to the community to the next level.

"It is a decision that reveals real commitment to being a good neighbour."
