Tolmachevo Airport 2018 Passenger Traffic Grew by 901,000

Passenger traffic at Novosibirsk International Tolmachevo airport in 2018 increased by more than 901,000 and amounted to 5.9 million (+18% from 2017).

Passenger traffic on domestic routes increased by 20.6% to 4.28 million and on international routes up to 1.6 million (+11.7%).

In 2018, 31,933 tonnes of cargo and mail were handled (+8.5%), which is a record in the history of the airport.

Positive dynamics in passenger traffic in 2018 have been caused by new destinations and an increase in frequency on existing routes, as well as the implementation by S7 Airlines of the project for air hub development.

Due to the development of transfer traffic, the number of passengers using the airport as a transfer hub increased up to 1.36 million (+35%) following the results of 2018. Their share in the total passenger traffic increased to 23%, ensuring Tolmachevo Airport second place in Russia after Moscow hub airports.

As general director of JSC Tolmachevo Airport Evgeniy Yankilevich said, in 2019 the airport plans to increase this figure to 1.75 million passengers with a target total passenger traffic of 6.8 million.

Tolmachevo Airport in Russia serves as a transfer hub for flights between Europe and China.
