Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) has chosen infrastructure consulting firm Aecom to deliver programme management services for Cargo Terminal 2 and Amiri Flight Facilities.

These services will be provided for Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management to support the expansion programme at the airport.

The firm will be tasked with project management and construction management of the new cargo terminal, along with additional supporting buildings.

These ancillary buildings cover a central utility plant, a veterinary inspection facility and infrastructure diversions.

In addition, a cargo bridging centre will be established to handle predicted overflow from Cargo Terminal 1.

The new facility is set to open before the commencement of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November next year.

Aecom president Lara Poloni said: “We are excited to support the execution of Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management’s infrastructure expansion plans by developing these important facilities at Hamad International Airport.

“We have a longstanding history in the country and are looking forward to leveraging our significant local knowledge and extensive aviation experience to successfully manage this programme.”

Aecom will offer these services for a period of six years.

Last month, Denver International Airport (DEN) in the US appointed Aecom to provide programme management services for its seventh runway development project.
