The facility will have nine separate testing rooms with the capacity to administer more than 500 tests each day.

The company aims to provide its testing services to airline employees, contractors and workers, as well as concessionaires and their employees, TSA officers, and US Customs and Border Protection agents.

The newly launched brand XpresCheck, which will operate under XpresSpa’s XpresTest subsidiary, will carry out all Covid-19 screening and testing.

XpresSpa CEO Doug Satzman said: “We are thrilled to be in a position to launch our first pilot test at JFK Terminal 4 and are hopeful that this will serve as a model in other US airports.

“The vision and close collaboration with JFKIAT senior leaders have enabled this initiative to move quickly so that we can together support the safety and health of front line airport workers and travellers as New York’s recovery plan takes form.”

Meanwhile, the company is also in talks with other US airports to temporarily convert its existing XpresSpa locations into XpresCheck testing sites as it prepares to launch this concept further.

In January this year, JFK International Airport partnered with Google to adopt Google Assistant’s Interpreter Mode technology at Terminal 4, which is operated by JFKIAT.  The move was intended to reduce language barriers for international tourists.
