Bodet Time, a leader in time display, is a company focused on international development with a presence in more than 140 countries. The French historic company has been manufacturing and designing analogue and digital clocks for more than 40 years. Installed in many big cities worldwide, Bodet clocks are also present in many airports across the world. As a leader in time synchronisation, Bodet Time also developed the Netsilon range of time servers featuring several levels of accuracy to meet the needs of the airport sector.

Leader in time display and synchronisation in airports

The Bodet Time activity offers two categories of products: time synchronisation and time display solutions. Bodet time servers offer different levels of accuracy, thus ensuring accurate and stable synchronisation of the network infrastructure.

As for time display, NTP analogue clocks from the Profil range fit perfectly into airport outdoor entrances, duty-free areas, and departure lounges. They are customisable, suitable for all areas of an airport and feature large diameters to be visible from afar in large spaces.

NTP Style digital clocks can be found in customs areas, departure lounges, and baggage reclaim areas. The World Style digital clock fits harmoniously into departure halls since it displays multiple time zones.

The importance of time synchronisation in airports

Accurate, identical and highly available time is paramount in an airport’s network infrastructure. An NTP and PTP time server retrieves a reference time signal from a satellite source and transmits it to all devices connected to the computer network. In an airport, time synchronisation is paramount for ensuring efficient flight coordination, optimum terminal operation and accurate planning of operating activities via common synchronisation of control computers, security systems, passenger information systems, video surveillance and time display systems.

The Bodet Time Netsilon time server offers several satellite synchronisations: GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, and GALILEO. This modular range evolves along with the installation needs by offering the following option cards which enable to add several features: PTP, IRIG-B, ASCII. Besides, the server is easy to configure via an ergonomic, multilingual web interface, and its administration is secured by using strong LDAP, LDAPS, RADIUS or 802.1X authentication.

The time server from Bodet Time has the following features:

  • Time base: TCXO, OCXO, OCXO HQ
  • Notification and supervision: Alarm history, Syslog, SNMP
  • Synchronisation protocols: NTP, PTP, IRIG, (A/B/E/G), ASCII, 1PPS, 10MHz

At the heart of accurate synchronisation, the satellite signal can be vulnerable to interference such as spoofing and jamming. In this case and for ensuring optimum security, the secure GNSS antenna protects against interference using a multi-constellation receiver and a robust design reducing signals from the ground.

Bodet time servers are sustainable solutions with optimised electronics to reduce energy consumption and an extended lifespan due to their fanless design.

From distribution to accurate and reliable time display for the airport sector

Airport clocks must deliver accurate and readable time information to both travellers and ground personnel. Connected to the computer network and receiving time information from the time server, the range of clocks from Bodet Time meets all needs of an airport:

Analogue clocks

  • The Profil 900 range offers three diameters to adapt to the required readability, as well as indoor and outdoor models with lighting or double-sided mounting options.
  • The Profil 700 range offers five diameters for ensuring a simple time information that can be read both indoors and outdoors. The lighting and double-sided mounting options complete the features of this range of clocks. Featuring a reinforced watertightness (IP65) and a reading distance of up to 80m away, the Profil 700 range of analogue clocks is particularly suitable for outdoor use.

Digital clocks

  • The STYLE range is available in several formats, especially the STYLE 10S clock, which provides passengers with hour, minute and second displays to allow them to keep an eye on boarding time. These clocks make it easy and quick to tell the time. The world STYLE can be found in check-in and boarding areas in order to know the time difference for each destination. This digital clock displays the time from three to seven different cities. The information is synchronised with the time zone of each country.
  • The HMT-HMS LED range is available in nine outdoor models with different LED colours for greater customisation and better integration into the environment.

Besides, Bodet Time clocks feature a built-in SNMP protocol for remote reporting of anomalies, which significantly reduces maintenance costs.
