GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) has announced the opening of the interim international departures terminal (IIDT) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

GHIAL, which operates the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, also known as Hyderabad International Airport, has advised travellers to check with their airlines before starting for the airport.

In a statement, GHIAL said that the passengers who have booked on Air India International flights AI 127, AI 952, AI 978, AI 988, AI 966 and AI 051, and those travelling to domestic destinations are advised to report at Interim International Terminal (IIDT) from 23 October as per their scheduled departures time.

Located near to the Haj Terminal, passengers can access the IIDT from both Shamshabad and Srisailam sides of the airport’s main approach road through Rotary 1 (Cargo rotary), which goes towards the Haj Terminal.

“IIDT has been constructed in less than seven months with an investment of Rs500m ($6.83m) and spans across 100,000ft² of space.”

In order to provide easy access to the new terminal, signage with directions has been placed starting from the airport approach road to IIDT. Visitors have been urged to follow directional signage to avoid any inconvenience.

Additionally, a dedicated free shuttle service has been made available between the existing terminal and IIDT, which will be available at the arrivals ramp. Operating at regular intervals, the shuttle will transport passengers to IIDT within five minutes.

The airport started work on an expansion project to increase its overall capacity to 40 million passengers per annum.

IIDT has been constructed in less than seven months with an investment of Rs500m ($6.83m) and spans across 100,000ft² of space.

Hyderabad International Airport has been opened for ten years and was built in a public-private partnership. The initial passenger handling capacity of the airport is 12 million but it currently manages 18 million passengers annually.
