Hamburg Airport in Germany has deployed [email protected] Air Cargo Community System from software developer Dakosy at its air cargo centre.
[email protected] enables companies involved in freight handling, such as handling agents, forwarders, truckers, and airlines, to improve transport and freight processes for import and export.
The system supports and automates processes such as customs, security, dangerous goods and supply chain management.
Hamburg Airport Cargo Center has launched the pilot project this month.
[email protected] has been introduced at Hamburg Airport Cargo Center to standardise and optimise the processes. The system is expected to reduce handling and wait times at the air cargo centre, increase transport chain transparency, and avoid duplicate entry of data.
The system can also prepare the customs release and transmit it electronically upon entry into the Hamburg Airport Customs area, reducing the need for paper.
[email protected] also features a Door Management System, where time slots are booked for the delivery of goods to the air freight centre, enabling the delivery company and the handling partner of the airline to coordinate schedules for the delivery of goods.
Hamburg Airport head of cargo Alexander Müller said: “I’m pleased that we can implement the pilot project at Hamburg Airport Cargo Center together with our experienced partner DAKOSY.
“I’m certain that the standardised early data exchange between the process participants made possible by [email protected] will create great added value for everyone.”
The pilot project is a result of the cooperation between forwarding agents, dispatchers and customs authorities.
The project partners will initially concentrate on export processes during the four-month pilot project at Hamburg Airport.
Participants include forwarding agents Cross Freight, Delta Stallion, a.hartrodt and Sable, airline handling partners LUG and Swissport, Hamburg Airport Customs Office, and the Hamburg Freight Forwarders Association.
