What is Safety?
The Safety category includes companies and institutions that have demonstrated best practice in health and safety including compliance to standards and any initiatives taken to improve workplace safety through the introduction of new guidelines, policies or equipment.
It also includes projects and initiatives by companies to improve health and safety in other public environments other than their own workspaces.
Themes
During the COVID emergency companies were eager to expedite security checks to limit the spread of the disease. As a result, efficient scanning and biometric solutions have become even more important for safe airport operations.
Companies have also been investing in more direct ways to combat the spread of the disease such as vaccine distribution at airports, disinfection systems, systems for COVID-19 testing and dedicated laboratories.
COVID-19 biosurveillance programmes, such as the one initiated by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US have also played an important role in ensuring a safe airport experience.
Airport tech companies have also started applying antimicrobial coating to frequently touched places and using air quality improvement technology.
