What are Product Launches?

The Product Launches category recognises companies that have launched notable new products or services into the market. This can include physical products, software as well as the launch of services and concepts.

We will be specifically looking at novelty, including companies launching products into new areas or innovation in the product’s design, manufacture or marketing.

Themes

This research period has seen a number of covid related product launches in the airport technology industry. Among these have been various health data sharing platforms, as well as covid adapted baggage check-in solutions. Some airports have even offered at-home baggage check-in services.Companies have also been keen to incorporate covid specific features into their new digital management solutions for airports. 

Cloud and AI technologies have been used in digital solutions for all types of airport operations, but mainly for baggage flow and digital management solutions. Notably China’s Huawei has introduced a comprehensive new cloud-network solution to enhance airport connectivity and security.

Trends in the electric propulsion sector have been following the general move towards infrastructure development. Supernal and Urban-Air Port have notably launched their first functional vertiport for eVTOLs.
