WheelTug has entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic (ANS CR), making the agency its European partner for air navigation and air traffic services.
Under the deal, WheelTug system will be integrated to ANS CR ground operating procedures, while ANS CR Training Centre and ANS CR Aviation School will work with the company for the development of training materials and operations manuals.
WheelTug CEO Isaiah Cox said that the collaboration will bring ANS CR’s expertise to incorporate WheelTug operations into aircraft ground traffic control, service procedures, and pilot training and manuals.
"ANS CR is an active member of the world’s leading air traffic management organisations, including CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organization), ATCA (Air Traffic Control Association) and EUROCONTROL," Cox said.
"As WheelTug comes to market, ANS CR will help us provide air and ground crews, and traffic controllers, with the highest quality of training."
Powered by electric motors, the WheelTug aircraft drive system is deployed at the nose gear wheels of an aircraft that assist in offering full mobility during ground operations and allow replacing tug vehicles, and the employment of jet engines for pushback and taxi.
Aimed at consuming reduced fuel per minute, the in-wheel system is electrically powered by the aircraft’s auxiliary power unit (APU), which is expected to save around 80% of fuel while operating on ground.
In addition to enhancing aircraft safety, the system is also claimed to reduce emissions, maximise safety and flexibility of operations, accelerate turnaround times, cut down engine wear and repair costs while reducing noise pollution.
WheelTug’s other partners include Parker Hannifin, Gables Engineering, Resource Group, Co-Operative Industries, ICE Corporation, Endeavor Analysis and Dynetic Systems.
