Vanderlande has received contracts to deliver automated baggage handling systems to Sepinggan International Airport and Kuala Namu Airport in Indonesia.

Under the first contract from Sepinggan International Airport, the company will install its Baxorter automated baggage handling system featuring two integrated loop sorters which will be operational by August next year.

The second contract from the new Kuala Namu Airport will comprise the installation of Helixorter baggage handling system featuring with two integrated loop sorters, which is claimed to be the first tilt and the first integrated hold baggage screening in the country.

Helixorter is capable of screening about 6,000 trays per hour with a speed of 2m/s while delivering increased sorting accuracy and lower maintenance requirements.

Vanderlande said that the new baggage handling systems are expected to be operational by December this year.

The company previously won a project in Indonesia to deploy the baggage handling system at Raja Haji Fisabililah International Airport in Tanjung, which is based on semi-automated sorting with a carousel and pushers.

With the growing passenger traffic in the country, its airports are deploying new baggage handling systems to enhance the capacity and service level required to handle the passengers.
