Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has invited bids for the construction of a third terminal, which will cost TWD60bn ($1.96bn).

The third terminal will be built to the west of terminal 2, with facilities for entertainment, shopping, conferences and accommodation.

Following the completion, the terminal will enable the airport to handle 43 million passengers per year compared with 30 million by the existing two terminals, according to focustaiwan.tw.

The bidding process for the third terminal will start at the end of 2011 and the terminal will start operating in 2018.
