SITA has deployed its common-use passenger processing system (CUPPS), AirportConnect Open, at seven Japanese airports.
The AirportConnect Open systems have been deployed as part of a five-year agreement with Japan’s flag carrier Japan Airlines to reduce passenger queues and increase flexibility in passenger processing.
The contract also includes the provision of fully-managed services in addition to the deployment of 169 integrated common-use workstations across Fukuoka, Sendai, Niigata, Komatsu, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Okinawa airports.
Japan Airlines vice president and deputy manager Keiichiro Sato said that SITA’s AirportConnect provides a platform to manage the airline’s applications effectively across all seven airports.
"This will help us provide more consistent passenger processing and give us the flexibility to cope with peaks in passenger traffic," Sato said.
"With SITA’s fully-managed services, we can also better manage our costs and budgets."
The system allows airlines to use their applications on common-use terminal equipment infrastructure to reduce expenses.
AirportConnect Open is an integrated workstation / kiosk platform, which uses the same servers, LAN and core room to offer savings through the use of a single set of common-use applications that can be used on any vendor’s platform.
AirportConnect Open is future-proofed to support CUPPS, the International Air Transport Association’s common use standard for agent-facing operations at airports.
