The system now provides the air traffic controllers (ATC) of Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS) with precise surveillance of aircraft operating on the surface of the airport.
The data obtained from Saab Sensis Corp” target=”_blank”>Saab Sensis ‘ multilateration system covers all runways, taxiways and gate areas and is being combined with other surveillance sources into an Indra Navia Systems’ advanced – surface movement guidance and control system (A-SMGCS).
The Saab Sensis Corp” target=”_blank”>Saab Sensis multilateration system employs multiple non-rotating sensors to track aircraft location through the transponder signals and provide accurate aircraft position along with recognition information to ATCs in any weather conditions.
According to Saab , each of the deployed multilateration sensors supports automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS-B). Saab Sensis Corp” target=”_blank”>Saab Sensis claims that the multilateral system offers enhanced update rate and positional accuracy and delivers efficient surveillance, resulting in enhanced safety, capacity and efficiency of airspace.
According to the company, the multilateration system has also been deployed at King Abdulaziz, King Fahad and Doha airports in the Middle East.

Dubai International Airport comprises three terminals, including the Emirates Terminal 3, which increased the operational capacity of the airport to 60 million passengers per year.
According to the airport, its operational capacity is expected to reach 75 million following the completion of the A380-dedicated airside facility in 2012.
