Perth International Airport in Australia has opened its $120m Domestic Terminal 2 (T2), which will act as a base for domestic flights.
The facility will be the first new terminal to be built in 26 years and features a check-in hall incorporating 16 check-out counters, a central passenger security screening zone, in addition to an enhanced departures area with premium retail and dining options.
Domestic Terminal 2 also features a large aircraft apron, which connects the terminal through 14 aircraft gates, while the improved taxiways enable quick rotation of multiple aircraft in the peak periods.
The terminal also features three large baggage reclaim belts to cut-down waiting times.
Perth Airport chief executive officer Brad Geatches said: "While T2 is the first of our projects to be completed, work is well advanced on the transformation of the international arrivals journey, which will see immigration move to Level 1 in the middle of this year, allowing for the expansion of the baggage reclaim area on the ground floor, and visitors to the airport can now see the new DomesticPier taking shape."
The new terminal is more than double the size of the existing Terminal 3 and is located adjacent to the existing International Terminal (T1).
