Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) has reported that passenger traffic at its 13 airports rose 7.4% in March 2012 compared to 2011.
Mexican airports reported 8.3% rise in domestic air traffic while international traffic rose by 3.5% over the month.
During the period, the operator’s Monterrey airport recorded 5.7% rise in passenger traffic, Tampico airport increased by 23.3%, Chihuahua airport reported 14% rise, Ciudad Juárez recorded 14.5% increase, Reynosa a 47.3% rise and Culiacán airport reported 7.1% rise.
In March, traffic at Monterrey airport increased mainly on the routes to Mexico City and Cancun while Tampico, Chihuahua, and Reynosa airports’ traffic rose on routes to Mexico City.
Ciudad Juarez airport reported increased traffic on the Mexico City and Guadalajara routes while, Culiacán airport reported rise in traffic in routes to Tijuana and Guadalajara.
Monterrey airport recorded a 22.4% rise in international passenger traffic while San Luis Potosi recorded 57% rise during the period while the Acapulco airport and Mazatlán airport reported 50.1% and 5% decline in international passenger traffic respectively during March.
OMA reported that the total flight operations which include takeoffs and landings rose 1% and its domestic flights increased 0.9% while and international flights reported 1.2% rise when compared to the same period during the previous year.
