UK-based ground and cargo handling company Menzies Aviation has signed a contract with ARINC to deploy AviNet Mail as the company’s main messaging service.
ARINC’s platform will be used to send and receive messages regarding passenger processing and cargo systems from global airline handling agents.
AviNet Mail, which complies with IATA requirements, processes an estimated 750,000 messages daily for Menzies Aviation, which operates at 129 airports in 31 countries.
Menzies Aviation Information Technology senior vice president Martin Gallington said that the migration to ARINC has enabled the company to make a number of cost and operational efficiencies within the organisation.
AviNet Mail’s suite of services offers an interoperable messaging solution and supports various IP and legacy airline protocols.
It also supports multiple message formats, which include TCP/IP, CEFACT, XML, SMTP, HTTP, SDLC, P1024A/B, SFTP, MQ, SOAP web services, UN/EDIFACT and X.25/AX.25 FTP.
The platform uses internet connection and provides multiple message formats in a single or multiple-user interface through a customisable message-formatting template. It also offers type B, email and SMS messaging over a protected private network.
Arinc’s messaging platform is currently used by airport authorities, airlines and associated organisations, including flight dispatch operators, ground handlers and caterers to exchange data for enhancing security for both passengers.
