Indra has secured a contract from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait to install an advanced controller-pilot data link communication system at Kuwait International Airport.

The €35m contract combines a project awarded last year to modernise the control centre’s automated air traffic management systems and tower.

The voice communications system and the automated air traffic management system will be fully integrated; both systems were developed by Indra.

Indra said that the voice-over internet protocol system will ensure ground-to-ground and ground-to-air voice links between controllers and pilots by including digital technology and IP communications.

The company will also install radio communications systems.
