Indra has received a contract to deploy four monopulse secondary surveillance radar (MSSR) mode S systems in Indonesia to enable safer air operations and boost flight management.

Indra will construct new stations at Natuna, Tanjung Pinang, Sorong and Pontianak as part of the contract, bringing the number of stations deployed by the company across Indonesia to ten.

The new systems, which comply with standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Eurocontrol, will cover around 70% of Indonesian airspace.

Indra has previously applied similar systems at Indonesian stations Sentani, Bali, Medan, Curug, Tarakan and Timika.

Indra is also currently implementing air traffic management (ATM) systems at Medan control centre, which is expected to manage Sumatra’s traffic, and Berau control centre.

"Indra has previously applied similar systems at Indonesian stations Sentani, Bali, Medan, Curug, Tarakan and Timika."

The ATM system is already employed at Sentani control centre, which supervises air traffic in the area of Papua.

The automated ATM system reduces repetitive tasks for controllers, allows the management of a greater number of flights and generates alerts during route conflicts, assisting safe and efficient traffic management.

Indra ‘s ATM networks are also being deployed in Australia, while Xian and Chengdu control centres in China are expected to deploy the technology to supervise an area the size of Western Europe.
