Frankfurt Airport reports 3.3% rise in Q1-Q3 passenger traffic

Fraport's Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany recorded a 3.3% rise in passenger traffic during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2012 to 44.1 million passengers and reported a 1% rise in passenger traffic during September to 5.36 million passengers.

Fraport’s Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany recorded a 3.3% rise in passenger traffic during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2012 to 44.1 million passengers and reported a 1% rise in passenger traffic during September to 5.36 million passengers.

In Q1-Q3 2012, Frankfurt Airport’s cargo traffic declined 8.4% to 1.56 million tonnes, with September’s cargo traffic dropping 2.2% to 178,876t, when compared to the same period in 2011.

The airport recorded a 0.1% rise in aircraft movements over the first nine months of 2012 to 366,544 takeoffs and landings, while aircraft movements declined 0.7% during September to 42,214.

Frankfurt Airport’s maximum takeoff weights (MTOW) declined 0.3% to 22 million tonnes throughout January to September, while for the duration of September the airport reported a 0.5% decline in MTOW to 2.5 million tonnes.

During the Q1-Q3 2012 period, Fraport-operated airports including Frankfurt, Lima, Antalya, Burgas and Varna collectively reported a 3.4% rise in passenger traffic to 78.16 million passengers when compared to the same period in 2011.

Passenger traffic at Fraport’s Lima Airport (LIM) increased 11.8% to 9.8 million passengers during Q1-Q3.

Turkey’s Antalya Airport (AYT) handled 20.71 million passengers in the first nine months of 2012, reporting a 0.1% decline over the corresponding period the previous year.

Bulgaria’s Burgas (BOJ) Airport reported a 7.5% rise in passenger traffic to 2.32 million, while passenger traffic at Varna (VAR) Airport declined 1.2% to 1.14 million.
