The US Federal Aviation Administration is to contribute $466.5m to the $6.4bn expansion of Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania, US.
The Capacity Enhancement Program will be completed in phases over the next 13 years, adding another runway and extending two runways to increase capacity.
The project, which was approved in January, also includes a new cargo facility, new terminal facilities and a ground transportation centre.
The expansion, which will be complete by 2025, will increase the airport’s overall economic impact by $12bn to $26.4bn per year.
