Doha International Airport in Qatar has terminated a $244.96m (AED900m) fit out contract with Lindner Depa, an interior fitting joint venture between Dubai-based Depa and German company Lindner.

In a statement, Lindner Depa said: "This follows the announcement on 20 June that Lindner Depa’s performance bond and advance payment guarantee were pulled due to Lindner Depa’s refusal to accept new non-favourable contract terms and conditions."

Lindner Depa also alleged that there was a lack of access to the project site to carry out the contract work for the initial nine months of this sixteen-month project.

The contract was awarded in October 2011 to fit out of 17 lounges at the new airport.

New Doha International airport (NDIA) is currently undergoing its first phase of expansion, expected to be completed by 2013.

The expansion will allow it to handle 24m passengers and 2m tonnes of cargo a year initially.

After further expansion, the passenger handling capacity is expected to more than double to nearly 50m per year.
