ARINC to deliver vMUSE Enterprise solution to Kazan Airport

ARINC has received a contract for the delivery of its cloud-based vMUSE Enterprise common-use check-in solution to Kazan (KZN) international airport in Tatarstan, Russia.

ARINC has received a contract for the delivery of its cloud-based vMUSE Enterprise common-use check-in solution to Kazan (KZN) international airport in Tatarstan, Russia.

As part of the contract, ARINC will collaborate with Russian IT services firm Integris and deploy a fully-managed vMUSE Enterprise solution at Kazan Airport’s new Terminal 1A.

ARINC International operations director Paul Hickox said that the company’s cloud-based architecture will help airports such as Kazan benefit from common-use check-in platforms that previously were only available to large airports.

"vMUSE Enterprise delivers the same performance as systems running on on-site core servers, high security, reliability and manageability, but at a much lower cost," Hickox said.

The initial system to be deployed at the airport will incorporate around 40 workstations.

vMUSE Enterprise will transfer the airport’s earlier software functions on user’s workstation into ‘virtual machines’ and offer a secure solution for mission-critical applications through the data centre.

Virtual machines operate on high-performance servers in a data centre accessed over a secure IP network from desktops deployed at the airport and share hardware and perform programmes as physical machines, including processor, memory, network connections and peripheral ports.

Incorporating the security and reliability of vMUSE with enhanced virtualisation technology, the new platform offers continuous multi-airline check-in without installing and managing on-site servers and platform software.

The new solution is also aimed at reducing operating costs by eliminating the requirement for on-site server hardware and core rooms, and their on-going maintenance activities.

The new platform consumes less energy, requires less space and offers more flexibility to increase or decrease the workstations as required, while reducing roll-out time.
