Airports Authority of India (AAI) has awarded a contract to Comsoft for the delivery and installation of an additional 14 of its Quadrant Sensor Automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) ground stations.
Comsoft has received the follow-up contract after the completion of phase I project roll out.

The dual-redundant Quadrant Sensor systems offer long-range surveillance solutions and replace Mode S radar as the main surveillance technique for monitoring aircraft operations.
Comsoft’s ground stations will generate a complete air situation picture from airport surface to beyond 250NM, and would suit India’s requirements to cover very long distances and places with extremely high altitudes.
Aimed at enhancing the accurate and safe surveillance broadcast in all fundamental directions of the country to an automated ATM system, Quadrant Sensor comply with international ADS-B standards.
The sensor receives and processes 1090MHz messages, and it can also form a multilateration network by adding an interrogating unit, which allows request for specific information.

There are14 National and International airports across India along the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal that have already commissioned the air surveillance technology, upon the completion of site acceptance testing in October 2012.
