Steria France innovation director Patrick Loyer said that SVS will be an innovative response to the challenges facing the aviation industry.
"Ten industry leaders are currently conducting experiments as part of the SESAR project and five actors are currently negotiating to join the SVS platform in 2013 to validate their new ideas," Loyer said.
"This technology can also be adapted to other industries that have similar challenges with respect to the interconnection and interoperability of operational systems."
Aimed to offer a simulation platform for all aviation companies, SVS will speed up innovation and allow testing of the new air navigation concepts that support the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR) project to enhance the safety and flexibility of air transport.
The platform will also allow multiple members to connect their simulators to a real-time environment, enabling the test pilots and air traffic controllers to collaboratively work in their respective cockpit or control tower.
Shared Virtual Sky solution will support the European Commission’s plan to modernise air traffic management systems via SESAR, which is aimed at developing an integrated air traffic navigation system.
Airbus ProSky CEO Eric Stefanello said: "SVS offers a unique possibility to run highly realistic simulations using real pilots and controllers environment to test together new concepts of operations."
Steria , which is primarily responsible for the SVS technology, also hosts the SVS portal, and it will offer services on SaaS subscription basis.
