Vilankulo Airport in Mozambique has begun construction work to refurbish, expand and modernise the international aerodrome to 3,700m².
The $9m modernisation effort is expected to be complete within nine months and will enable large aircraft to use the facility, increasing terminal capacity from 75,000 to 200,000 passengers.
The work is being undertaken by China-based Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Corporation.
