Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the US will implement an inline baggage screening programme in several of its terminals using $150m in funds from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The project will include the construction of new automated in-line baggage screening systems to screen checked passenger luggage.
As part of the project, explosives detection equipment in the terminal lobbies will be removed.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.
