Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has awarded a ten-year contract to SITA to complete an upgrade of passenger processing at two of the country’s international airports.

The $26.7m agreement will include the installation of 32 self-service check-in kiosks at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi and 16 kiosks at Moi International Airport (MIA).

The AirportConnect S3 kiosks will become the nation’s first ever self-service check-in kiosks, and are expected to benefit 37 airlines by allowing them to share check-in and boarding facilities.

The systems support barcoded boarding passes, which will be adopted by the industry in 2010.

The AirportConnect open platform supports CUPPS (common-use passenger processing systems), the existing CUTE (common-use terminal equipment) standard, as well as web and CUSS (common-use self-service) kiosk applications.
