Phuket International Airport in Thailand has received funding from the Royal Thai Government to embark on a new expansion project. It is estimated that the airport will accommodate 6.8 million passengers in 2010, which will increase to 12.5 million passengers a year by 2018.

Airports of Thailand will provide $181,150 (THB6m) for the project.
