Nashville International Airport in the US will soon begin constructing a new underground baggage-screening system.

The airport procured a grant of $31m from Federal Homeland Security for the project.

The project involves relocating the explosive detection systems from the ticketing lobby to an area beneath the terminals.

Work on the project started in May and is expected to be complete by November 2010.
