Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in the US will soon be powered by energy generated by five wind turbines installed at two locations in the airport.

The Wayne County Airport Authority Board has approved a contract to install the turbines for Michigan-based Southern Exposure Renewable Energy.

The turbines will be placed near the airport entrance on Rogell Drive and at the South Cell Phone Lot on Eureka Road.

Manufactured by MasTech Manufacturing, the 30ft windspire units are cylindrical, vertical-axis wind turbines, which generate electricity for immediate use regardless of wind direction.
