Vladivostok International Airport in Russia is to embark on a new development project which could see the airport become the largest international aviation hub in the Russian far east region.

The $175m airport development project will include the construction of a new 47,000m² passenger terminal by Germany-based Hochtief Construction AG.

The terminal is expected to accommodate 3.5 million passengers annually and will incorporate energy-saving technologies and materials.

The renovation of Vladivostok Airport has been undertaken by Sheremetyevo International Airport, which has a 52.2% stake in the airport by presidential decree.
