Raytheon is to oversee a nationwide implementation of air traffic management (ATM) systems in Saudi Arabia following a contract with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
A total of 21 systems will be deployed by the company, which will also establish a regional maintenance facility in Saudi Arabia to support systems deployed in the Middle East for other air navigation service providers.
Factory acceptance testing of the first system is expected to be complete soon.
It is hoped that the move will ensure flight safety for the domestic airline sector, while improving the nation’s ATM system.
