UK practice A-lab architects has completed the construction of a new business park at the former Oslo Airport site in Oslo, Norway.

The park is being developed by IT Fornebu AS Group, a Norwegian IT company, which commissioned A-lab architects after they won a design competition in 2004.

The airport building was closed in 1998 after 60 years of operation.

The design features a flexible layout for developing 28,000m² of office space while reducing the building footprint and creating minimal wastage.

The development features four six-storey office blocks and is flanked by a red cantilevered public space.

The building façade features an innovative exoskeleton design for each of the 3,750m² blocks.

Each block is clad in diagonal steel beams, attached together by steel joints to form a lattice.
