The Abu Dhabi Airports Company has said it will build a 220,000m² midfield terminal at Abu Dhabi International airport in the UAE.
A construction contract for the $6.8bn terminal project is expected to be awarded before the end of 2009.
The terminal will be built between the airport’s existing runway and a proposed second runway.
The terminal will commence operation by March 2015 and is expected to double the airport’s capacity.
