As part of a partnership with the UK Border Agency, Cardiff Airport in Wales has introduced facial recognition technology to passenger gates.

The machines, which are placed at arrival lounges, can scan passenger faces within seconds.

The voluntary system is currently being tested at ten UK airports and is already operational at Manchester, Stansted and Bristol Airports.

Birmingham International, East Midlands, Gatwick and Luton Airports are expected to introduce the technology soon.
