Batu Berendam Airport in Malaysia is scheduled to begin international flight operations in mid-January next year.
Once international operations commence, Batu Berendam Airport will be renamed Melaka International Airport.
In order to upgrade to international status, a new 7,000sq m terminal was constructed and the airport’s runway was extended to 2,135m.
The $39 million upgrade began in 2007 and the new terminal can handle 1.5 million passengers annually.
