East Midlands Airport in the UK will collaborate with Gasrec – the UK’s first commercial producer of liquid biomethane – in order to run an airport passenger transfer bus powered by liquid biomethane fuel (LBM).

The project will run for six months during which the vehicle performance of the LBM-fuelled bus will be compared with other fuels.

Depending on the results, the airport will consider introducing more LBM-powered vehicles in the future.

The move is part of the airport’s push to achieve carbon neutrality. It also plans to install four wind turbines in order to generate 10% of the airport’s electricity supply.
