The airport is expecting over 220,000 flights in 2010, so undertook an expansion initiative in October 2009 to increase the length of runway B to 2,500m.

The IMS currently handles air-traffic information including anticipated aircraft departures and arrivals, the upgrade will enable quick responses to air-traffic incidents and seamless navigation.

Currently the airport handles 200,000 flights a year.
