Missoula International Airport in the US will begin construction of a new air traffic control (ATC) tower through a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant.

Construction of the $6.77m, 120ft ATC tower, which will replace the existing 60ft building built in the 1960s, is expected to begin soon.

An environmental assessment for the tower project is currently underway.

A $6m refurbishment of the main taxiway has already been completed and another runway is also expected to be refurbished.

Other airport works, estimated at over $13m, are expected to begin next year.
