The new Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus has begun operations and is expected to handle passenger traffic of up to 7.5 million annually.

The €656m airport has been built by a consortium of French and Cypriot companies.

The 100,000m² terminal is four times larger and features 67 check-in counters, 16 air bridges, departure and arrivals areas and is equipped with 2,650 parking spaces.

Flight operations are expected to begin this week and the airport will be fully operational from 17 November.
