A new X-ray scanner for handling airport cargo will be installed at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana to enhance airport security.
The scanner uses an X-ray imaging technology called THSCAN systems that features a high-energy electron linear accelerator.
The device can detect concealed goods within a minute while image analysis and reports can be produced within 15 minutes.
The project was funded by the Ghana Customs Inspection Company, a joint venture between Ghana Link, Customs Excise and Preventive Services and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, PSD & PSI.
