Aviation IT and communications firm SITA has signed a $20m seven-year contract with the Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) to supply three of its airports with self-service check-in and baggage reconciliation systems, flight information displays and other improvements.

Terminals 1 and 2 at Julius Nyerere International Airport will be provided with the systems, as will Mwanza and Arusha airports.

The common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks and baggage reconciliation system provided by SITA are designed to reduce mishandled baggage rates by up to 15%.
