AeroScout’s GPS and Wi-Fi asset tracking is to be installed at the Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) in Germany for the tracking of baggage and cargo dollies.

The T6 GPS Wi-Fi Tags will be placed on top of the carts and will use GPS to determine any outdoor location.

Using Wi-Fi, they will be able to offer information on the location of carts.

The radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is being deployed at the airport’s large outdoor ramp, apron and gate areas and is compliant with maintenance regulations.

The airport currently uses Cisco’s unified wireless network featuring Wi-Fi coverage for the terminals, aprons, gates, hangars and runway edges.

On-demand and scheduled inventory reports are generated automatically aiding in maintenance procedures and ongoing asset management.

The new RFID technology will prevent operational delays and improves utilisation of the dollies, the airport says.

AeroScout is a provider of unified asset visibility solutions.
