The $350m first section of Canberra International Airport’s (CBR) new terminal is expected to open in July 2010.

The Australian airport’s southern concourse terminal, which has a curved façade, is currently under construction and will replace the existing terminal, which the authority has confirmed will be demolished.

The terminal will also feature a new apron, a four-level car park and new airlines offices.

Work on Canberra’s western terminal concourse is expected to commence later next year and is expected to be complete by 2012 if the plan is approved by authorities.

The airport will be dismantled in sections over the course of four years.

An estimated 12 million passengers a year are expected to pass through the terminal.
