Construction of the $962m (R7bn) La Mercy airport in Durban, South Africa, is set to be complete ahead of schedule.

The airport will commence operation by March 2010 and will cater to the increased passenger levels for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The airport, along with two other Durban-based airports, is part of a much wider 2010 FIFA World Cup transport infrastructure programme.
