The $15m (Rp1.5tn) delayed expansion of Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Indonesia is now set to commence in early January 2010.

The expansion involves extending international and domestic passenger terminals, car parks and other supporting facilities.

The original plan to expand the airport’s commercial zone to cover around 40% of the passenger terminals has been rejected following security problems.

The newly revised design has reduced the size of the business site to 30% and the public area to 10%.

The project is expected to be complete within 30 months.
