Port Columbus International Airport in the US is planning to install a $50.9m baggage screening system in order to reduce passenger congestion and enhance airport operations.
The airport is in the final stages of securing $35.2m through federal stimulus funds from the Transportation Security Administration. The remaining $15.7m will be provided by the airport.
The system would offer more space for baggage and could be monitored by a ticketing agent.
The five existing screening stations will be removed.
The project is expected to be complete by 2011.
