Denver International Airport (DIA) in the US has selected Genetec’s IP video surveillance solution in order to enhance security across its 137km² airport facility.
Over the next 18 months, Genetec’s Omnicast solution is expected to double the airport’s entire surveillance capability, which currently comprises of 1,200 cameras and 12 archive servers for monitoring security checkpoints and passenger congestion.
The system has watermarking facilities and various video storage options such as multicasting and multistreaming to optimise bandwidth.
DIA plans to also use the Omnicast solution for video analytics, situational management software, and possibly to introduce a perimeter security programme.
DIA was ranked as the world’s tenth busiest airport in 2008 according to passenger traffic by Airport Council International (ACI).
