Dubai International Airport has seen a successive rise in passenger traffic numbers for the third month in a row with an increase of 10.7% in August, 10.3% in June and 2.6% in July.

Dubai Airport is the fifth-largest airport in the world in terms of international traffic and the only airport among the top 15 to record growth amidst financial downturn.

Passengers traffic rose by 6.7% at the airport in the first six months of this year and is expected to rise in the second half of this year following the launch of the Dubai Government-owned budget airline, flydubai in June.

Cargo shipments have also risen by 2.9% to 163,000t and a new cruise terminal is expected to open in January.
